Ladies Day Out

LADIES visiting Triple Tree:

On Saturday, September 11, you are invited to go

DOWN ON THE FARM(S)

We will have a van provided by Michelin North America (headquartered in Greenville) to take you (by reservation only) on an excursion to a variety of farms around the near-by town of Woodruff. The van will leave the lower gazebo at 10:00am and return to Triple Tree just after 4:00, in time for the 6:00 BBQ dinner.

The Schedule:

10:00 Leave for Starwood Creek Farm for a remarkable demonstration by Lynn Holcombe of a new approach to horse training called “natural horsemanship.” She teaches her horses useful principles, not tricks. The result is almost like dancing with these beautiful

creatures, like nothing you have seen before. See: www.starwoodcreekfarm.com .

11:30 Live Oak Farms store, and stables, featuring locally grown organic produce, heritage animal breeds (“Our animals are not on drugs, but they are on grass!”), and dairy products. One of the barns will be filled with antique wagons, carriages, and other farmrelated

vehicles. The other will have recently welcomed a Suffolk draft horse foal. Check the website: www.liveoakfarmsllc.com.

12:30 Lunch at The Broken Tea Pot Tea Parlour in Woodruff (casual dress no problem). A lovely 100-year-old house has been turned into an appropriate setting for tea and delicious lunches. Around $10:00. See the website: www.thebrokenteapot.com.

2:00 Tour the farm house (built in 1765) and grounds of Walnut Grove Plantation where you will learn about herbs, “hoppin' up blocks,” “bible boxes,” “sleep tight,” and much more. Admission: $6.00. See www.spartanburghistory.org.

As you can see, this tour will require a firm commitment (unless weathered out) so that our guides and tea room hostess can be ready for us. Please contact Judy Ellis at home: 864-879-7816 or rv8builder2@earthlink.net to reserve a space. During Triple Tree, try her cell phone: 864-363-6864. Local ladies, flying or driving in, are also welcome to join us.
