TRIPLE TREE AERODROME ARRIVAL PROCEDURE

ALL AIRCRAFT should approach Triple Tree with LANDING LIGHTS ON (if equipped).

All arrivals should monitor the Multi-comm frequency of 122.9 MHz (if radio equipped). The restored tower at Triple Tree will be staffed by “Professionals”. When making your initial radio call, do identify your aircraft type. (IE Cessna, Cherokee, Bonanza, type Experimental, Ultra-Light, etc.)

The preferred landing runway will be Runway 3. (Runway 3 does have an uphill slope.)

With the exception of heavy traffic periods (which is expected Friday afternoon and Saturday morning and perhaps Sunday morning), normal traffic pattern procedures will be used. Check in with the arrival personal to request such things as a base leg entry, etc.

Be alert for NORDO traffic and Ultra-Light's (whose speed may be much slower than 85 KIAS), etc.

After landing, when safe to do so, clear the runway to the east (right turn if landing on RWY 3). Look for a “Follow-Me” vehicle and switch to122.75 to communicate your intentions (camping, overnight, or here for only a few hours, etc) to the “Follow-Me” personnel.

After engine shut-down, make sure that your mags and master switches are off. For the safety of all, we do request that all aircraft be tied down. Please check 121.5 for ELT.

Ultra-Lights should fly a normal pattern (left hand) at 1,200 MSL (500 AGL). If radio equipped, listen for advisories on 122.9. If not radio equipped, sequence yourself as best you can and clear the runway to the east (right turn if runway 3 is used) after landing.

During periods of heavy arrival traffic, for the safety of all, the arrival personal may request that you follow the Dorman Arrival procedure (north) or Wal-Mart Center Arrival procedure (south) which follows:

FROM THE NORTH- DORMAN ARRIVAL PROCEDURE (this is the primary arrival procedure):

Trial in Blue on Illustration A

ALL AIRCRAFT (except Ultra-Lights) will be asked to approach Triple Tree from a point approximately 10 NM north of the airport. The landmark that will be used to identify this point is Dorman High School located just north of the intersection of Interstate 26 and US Highway 221. This landmark is on the SPA VOR 192° Radial at 12 NM. (N 34° 50.200' W 081° 58.269'). In radio calls, this landmark will be referred to as “Dorman”.  (Illustration B)

As you approach Dorman High School, maintain 85 KIAS, 1,700 MSL and GEAR DOWN. If radio equipped, announce your position over Dorman High School on 122.9 (Example “Triple Tree, Cherokee 05J, Dorman”.) If unable to maintain 85 KIAS, advise on your initial check in.

From Dorman High School, proceed south-southwest (SSW) heading 210º along US-221 and look for a white water tower in the town of Woodruff. See illustration C for a photo.

As you fly past the white water tower at Woodruff (Illustration C), announce your position “above Woodruff” and turn left to a heading of 160º and enter a Left Downwind for runway 3. Refer to illustration A.  Expect further advisories and suggestions from the tower.

FROM THE SOUTH - WAL-MART DISTRIBUTION CENTER ARRIVAL PROCEDURES:

Trial in Red on Illustration A

Aircraft arriving from the south (except Ultra-Lights) can approach Triple Tree from a point 8 NM south of the airport.  The landmark that will be used to identify this point is Wal-Mart Distribution Center (N 34.543’ W 81.995’)(GRD 020/19.5 NM) which is located just south of Interstate 385 and US Highway 221. In radio calls, this landmark will be referred to as “Wally World”.

As you approach Wal-Mart Distribution Center (Wally World), maintain 85 KIAS & 1,700 MSL. If radio equipped, announce your position over Wal-Mart Center (Wally World). See illustration E for a photo.

From Wal-Mart Distribution Center proceed North Northeast heading 020º along US Highway 221 and look for the town of Enoree (N 34.650 W 81.956). Announce your position over Enoree (see illustration F for a photo) and wait for the tower to respond, reason: if the tower is able (traffic permitting), a/c will be instructed to take a short cut. That  is: Turn left heading 270º and enter a right downwind for runway 3.  If tower is unable then, expect to continue North heading 360º for 12 NM and fly the Dorman Arrival. See above.
